Tom Baskeyfield

In 2008 I returned to Macclesfield after having lived away for sometime. During regular walks from my home in the centre of town up into the hills to the east, I realised the restrictive nature of roads, footpaths and dry-stone walls. I could find sense of space up on the hill but my movements were still restricted and defined by boundaries.

In Alternative Routes my aim is to defy these boundaries, to run free through the open-space I gaze upon from beyond the walls; to seek alternative perspectives on the places I am getting to know; to deepen my relationship with these places.
